We were extremely fortunate to have a Scottsdale member of our tour alert us to an exhibit at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden of the glass artist Dale Chuhuly.  Since we were putting in our 54 mile day essentially riding from one end of Phoenix to the other, we had time to take in this fabulous exhibit en route.   Aside from the Chuhuly pieces, the Garden was somewhere I'd like to spend much more time - lots of volunteer docents offering up all sorts of interesting botanical tidbits.  Also, the place was loaded with Western birds that were new to me and they were easy to spot.   Many of them were nesting in the Saguaro cacti.  It was a really hot day and although we were tired when we got in, this stop was really a memory maker.
