These lovely creatures were quite intimidated by the likes of us riding by their sunny pasture and began scattering for a few panicky moments, but they were so beautiful and the herd was larger than anything I've seen in Vermont. The agricultural tone was with us for a bit, as we rode past fields of sugar beets, sugar cane, alfalfa and a fallow cotton field later in the day. All this is made possible by irrigation ditches like the following which crisscross the area, photo to follow.
