The Botanical Garden allowed us to obtain some hard cold facts about all the incredible cacti that we have been whizzing by on the road. For example, did you know that these majestic Saguaros (pronounced Sa-wa-ro, also new to me...) can be transplanted? We followed one down the street on our ride through suburbia on it's way to be part of someone's landscaping project. They have shallow but long tendrils for root systems so as to be able to get any little bit of moisture that happens nearby. They need to be propped up by a couple of boards for awhile as the root system is established.
