Re: the photo caption below, it wasn't only corn on this riding day of a proposed 96 miles, it was also heat, full sun, no shade with a heat index of 110 degrees. We headed out early and were enchanted by all the corn and 'beans' (as in soy..) until the raging heat made things a bit less charming. It became very not fun for us at varying mileage marks, for me at mile 35 (back issues persist, lousy kerplunk kerplunk road surface contributing) and we had a gang in the sag vehicles, necessitating a return trip to get the second batch. Seven very hardy women rode the entire way! Our guides and sag driver worked very hard to get us all where we needed to be quickly and safely - big kudos to all. The hazy hot and humid days are predicted for the rest of the week - stay tuned and keep cool yourselves, as apparently we are not the only ones experiencing the heat wave.
