This was a way cool overnight stop. Fort Clark was one of the first places to boot Federal troops out when Texas seceded from the Union, and was home to the last mounted Cavalry Unit in the country. Gen. Patton lived here. The fort has been converted to a gaited community including a hotel comprised of revamped barracks which is where we stayed. One of the highlights of the day was joining my cycling buddy Laurie in the back of a pickup truck driven by a good samaritan local. Who would have ever predicted such a happening? This is yet another illustration of my friend Elizabeth's observation that we are definitely not acting our ages...
