We're also seeing many more dogs than previously, many of them loose. The topic of how to handle the serious chasers is dominating our riding conversation. So far so good.

Things really started to change scenery wise yesterday when we entered this forest - tall pines, thick forest with bird calls dominating the day. When we weren't in the forest, we passed lots of very contented looking cows, grazing with fellow bovines of mixed ages and breeds. They usually stop and stare at us when we go by, especially the calves who are occasionally scared of us. We've passed so many beautiful horses too, and lots of burrows. Until this trip, I was unaware that burrows are often placed in a pasture of sheep to protect them from coyotes....can anyone substantiate this as fact? For the moment, it's just a rumor passing down the line of us and we just nod and take it for gospel.
